The world of Harry Potter (Part 1)

The Exhibition

Harry Potter: The Exhibition is a tour that has been going around the world since 2009. It opened in Chicago and has since then travelled to places such as Boston, New York, Sydney, Tokyo, Sweden, Paris and Brussels.

The exhibition gives a more personal and closer look to the different authentic artifacts of the Harry Potter movies. When going to the exhibition there is a certain path you need to follow that leads you through all major scenes of the eight movies.

The tour

You have to arrive at at a certain time that you picked when buying your ticket. Before entering the actual exhibition you can have your picture taken with your own wand. After this you need to wait in line till its time to go in.

When you enter you get an introduction and three people out of the public are chosen to get a sorting, with the sorting hat. The wizard in charge asked a few questions and then puts the sorting hat on your head. Afterwards the doors go open and you can enjoy the exhibition.

We had the microphones with us but did not really use them that much as it was mostly very technical information about who designed and made certain artifacts.

We walked through the dormitories, class rooms, quidditch (where you could trow quaffles), you can also sit in Hagrids chair (which can easily fit two people).

After this you go onto the more dark side of the exhibition. You see the horcruxes and costumes of the death eaters.

You end with all Umbridge’s rules on a wall and the costumes for the gala ball.

Store

As with each exhibition you end at the Harry Potter store, which was quite extensive. You could buy almost everything you could think of. Personally I bought a new mug, for hot chocolate.

Worth it?

I personally loved walking around in the exhibition, and think that every real Harry Potter fan should go. Some people said that it was quite small, which is true if you are only interested in Harry and no other characters. I found it extremely fun to see all the different artifacts.

One of the only problems was that is was quite dark inside, which made it hard to take pictures (which were allowed).

If you take your time and like everything from Harry Potter, this should defiantly be on your list!

–> check where the next exhibition is.

The Harry Potter theme park will be discussed in the next post. Part 2

Hopefully till next time!
